Gregory Walke ( b. 1952, Toronto, Canada) After receiving a BSc. in biology from the University of Guelph in Ontario, he attended the Welsh School of Instrument and Repair in Abertridwr, Wales (1979-82). He worked for a year with Michael Franke in Wiesbaden Germany. In 1984, he was accepted into the workshop of Hieronymus Koestler in Stuttgart, where he studied restoration techniques. After returning to Canada in 1987 he opened a workshop with Sibylle Ruppert in Paisley, Ontario.
Gregory Walke has also worked as a freelance restorer and maker of violins, violas and cellos for other shops in Canada and the United States. He now devotes his time entirely to making instruments.
