Born into a musical family, Ludovic Proulx joined the Quebec’s national school of violin making at the age of 17. For three years, he will learn how to make and repair violins but also artistic notion (history of art and design) and management. He will graduate in 2010.
Still in school, he will be noticed by Olivier Perot, luthier in Montreal, who offered him a an internship and then a full-time position in his team. For a period of 5 years, he will learn how to maintain, repair and adjust violins, violas and cellos according to the highest quality standards. The art of playing the violin will also be provided by Émilie Livernois-Desroches.
For a few months, he will attend Michèle Ashley in the making of her cellos as a subcontractor. During a short stay in France, he will develop his discipline and knowledge of repair with Claude Macabrey, luthier in Lyon. Since 2013, Ludovic makes high quality violins, violas and cellos.
He launched his workshop in Laval in 2015 before moving to Quebec City in 2020.
