After my introduction to violin making by Juliet Barker in the UK I came to Toronto in 1974, working in one of the major shops for ten years before setting up on my own. Repair, restoration and a strong interest in the Baroque kept me busy with musicians across Canada and the United States – and also limited my chances of making more than the occasional instrument. Finally I’ve been able to turn things around, and look forward to putting what I have learned into my own work.
